Gagnon’s Studio wins league

    CARIBOU, Maine — Gagnon’s Studio won this year’s Caribou Parks and Recreation Department Men’s Basketball League championship with a 75-69 victory over Fitzherbert’s Squad last Wednesday, April 30.
Gagnon’s went ahead early and held a comfortable lead at halftime. Fitzherbert’s got within two points before Gagnon’s Studio pulled away again to gain the win.
Tim Gagnon scored 21 points to lead the winners, while Jordan McLaughlin and Keith Edgecomb had 19 and 17, respectively.
Top scorers for the runners up Fitzherbert’s Squad were Greg Whitaker with 22 and Jeremiah Fitzherbert with 10.
Coming out of the loser’s bracket, Gagnon’s bested previously-unbeaten Fitzherbert’s Squad on April 28 to force the extra game. In that one, Edgecomb and Shane Durost had 18 points each to power Gagnon’s to the 59-54 triumph, while Whitaker’s 22 points paced Fitzherbert’s.
On April 23, Durost scored 25 points and Edgecomb added 16 as Gagnon’s knocked off regular season champion Griffeth Ford, 78-56. Joel Griffeth scored 27 points for the losers.
In more playoff action on April 21, Gagnon’s tripped up Time Warner, 77-76. Edgecomb had 22, Gagnon 20 and Durost 16 for Gagnon’s, while Dillon Kingsbury scored 28 for Time Warner.
Fitzherbert’s Squad bested Griffeth Ford, 65-36. Whitaker notched 28 to lead the winning attack, while Ghent Holdsworth had 12 for Fitzherbert’s.
