Classic Country 94.7 FM hits the airwaves

For the past few years, 94.7 FM radio in Monticello has featured a unique radio music format called “Classic Country.” Some of the artists featured in the format are Willie Nelson, Toby Keith, Patsy Cline, Garth Brooks, Tanya Tucker, George Jones and George Strait. Now, for the first time ever in the station’s history, Classic Country 94.7 FM will feature a live morning show with Jason Hill (formally of WHOU).

“We are very excited to get started on this project and we plan on being very involved in the community,” said Hill. “We want to let people know what’s going on in our area on both sides of the border and we just want to have fun with the station in general. We do not plan on changing the music format, but we do plan on adding a few more country artists into the music rotation.”
Classic Country 94.7 FM will also provide competitive advertising options as well.
A new name of the station — Kixx FM — was announced last Friday and is based on a radio memory that many people will recall, added Hill.
More than a year ago, the station was leased by another company in the area and that company decided to end the lease so it went off the air for a short time. The owner of 94.7 FM (WBCQ) made the decision to keep the classic country playing because many people missed it when it was off the air.
