BENEDICTA – Anthony “Tony” Rush, 78, passed away surrounded by his family on May 13th. He was born July 25, 1935.
He was affectionately known as ‘Neighbor’ for his friendliness and warm-hearted greeting. He enjoyed gathering with friends & family, telling stories, meeting new people, and being actively involved in the community. Tony dedicated his life to raising his family and farming the Rush family land.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Rose; their five children; Gilbert and his wife, Catherine, Charlotte and her husband, Buster, John and his wife, Kate, Michael and his fiancé, Alison, Veronica and her husband, Shawn; granddaughter, Maeve; his remaining siblings, Priscilla and Vincent; sisters-in-law, Celeste and Beth, who he thought of as his children.
‘Neighbor’ was cherished and will be missed by his family, many friends, nieces and nephews.
Friends called 3-7 p.m. on Friday, May 16 at the family home. Memorial Mass was held on Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Benedicta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a scholarship fund for his granddaughter, Maeve, care of Rose Rush, 639 Benedicta Rd, Benedicta, ME 04733.
