HOULTON – Donald David Dunn, 55, died unexpectedly May 14, 2014, at his residence. He was born Dec. 27, 1958, at Japan, the son of Frank B. and Harriette (Johnstone) Dunn.
Donald was a graduate of Houlton High School, class of ‘78, and was a graduate of the New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in Boston. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Houlton Lodge of Elks and a member of the Houlton Agricultural Fair Board. Donald served on the Houlton Budget Committee and the Houlton Planning Board. He served Houlton and surrounding areas as a funeral director for Dunn Funeral Home from 1982 to present and was a member of the Maine Funeral Directors Association and the Selected Independent Funeral Homes. Donald was a member of the Houlton Community Golf Course, enjoying the Thursday Men’s Nite cooking with his golf partner Russell Fitzpatrick. He was an avid outdoorsman, fishing the waters of Smith Brook or hunting partridge at T7R3 WELS. He enjoyed wood-working, building shelves and coffee tables.
Donald is survived by his wife, Helen (Martin) Dunn; his son, Colby Dunn, and his daughter Molly Dunn; his father, Frank Dunn; his sister, Julie Dunn; his friend and golf partner Russell Fitzpatrick; his two loyal companions, Barnum and Bailey; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother.
Friends called Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dunn Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating.
