To the editor:
This is the time of the year when everyone is planting. Farmers are planting their crops, families are putting in their gardens, planting flowers around their yards, putting in trees and etc.
It is said, “Whatever a man sows he shall reap”. A farmer does not plant his crop without preparing the soil and using the right fertilizer, making sure he has good seed. If he wants a good crop, he also makes sure his equipment is in good condition.
I looked at the fields that are being planted and see how easy they are going in and thought back over how many years and work it took to get the land ready. The land has to be tested to see if it will bring forth a good crop.
I said all this to say this: I think of the election coming up in November and hear of different ones that are running for office. I would like to know what type of crop they will bring forth. What have they harvested in the past? Was it for the people or the party they belong to? I think of our own lives and that of our nation and state. What kind of a crop are we planting and what about the harvest for our children and grandchildren to live with? What kind of a future are we leaving for the next generation? What type of seeds are the candidates carrying with them to plant? I would say it’s not too early to get involved. It’s time to get off the side lines and take an active part.
I see a new way of thinking and living wanting to change our old and moral lifestyle that our nation and state were founded upon. But will it benefit us? What kind of future will it give our children?
Please check out what these people are standing for and what they have done for us so far. Don’t take them at face value. Get the facts for yourselves and check their voting record. Don’t be fooled.
There is an old saying: You can fool some of the people some of the time; you can fool most of the people most of the time; but you can’t fool all the people all of the time.
