PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A local man is continuing his efforts to raise funds to help others battling muscular dystrophy.

As yard sale season gets underway, Adam MacDonald, of Presque Isle, is busy collecting items for his own fund-raising sale next month.
“Adam is starting up his fund-raising this year with his annual Yard Sale in the Fight Against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He is shooting to hold his yard sale during the city-wide yard sale in June,” said Cheryl Markey, MacDonald’s mother.
MacDonald and his mother are accepting donated items for the sale.
“He’s accepting unwanted items. It isn’t hard to support Adam, just grab a box during your spring cleaning and fill it with items you’re no longer in need of or want that someone else could use,” she said.
Household items, books and even clothes are welcome. Electronics such as TVs, computers, monitors, keyboards, VCRs, cameras, etc., won’t be accepted however.
“We have had to get rid of such items after his yard sales and that costs the fund money. Please dispose of those items properly,” said Markey.
Items can be dropped off at their home at 17 State St.
“We’d greatly appreciate it. If we’re not home, just leave the items under the ramp out back. He’d like to have all donated items in by the end of the month,” she said.
MacDonald has selected the Jett Foundation in Massachusetts as the organization he’ll give a portion of the funds to this year, while some of the money will be used toward his upcoming trip to see doctors in Cincinnati.
“The organization was founded by Christine McSherry; her son, Jett, has Duchenne. She has stepped up and has been a big help with the process of getting Adam to see heart specialists in Cincinnati,” said Markey.
The yard sale will take place June 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and June 8 from noon to 4 p.m.
