People from Aroostook County are invited to gather in worship on Pentecost Sunday, June 8, at 4 p.m. at the Houlton United Methodist Church, 57 Military St. in Houlton. The Aroostook Cluster comprised of all the United Methodist Churches in Aroostook County is sponsoring a Pentecost Worship Service.
With Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar of the New England Annual Conference bringing the message, it promises to be a time of great worship and praise. The New England Annual Conference is comprised of 629 United Methodist Churches from the six New England states.
Bishop Devadhar, assisted by the Northern Maine District Superintendent, the Rev. Dr. Pat MacHugh, will lead in a Congregational Reaffirmation of the Baptismal Covenant and in a Blessing of Confirmands from the various churches.
Kaye Trickey, choir director at Houlton United Methodist is inviting people from any of the churches who would like to be part of a choir for the occasion to meet at 3 p.m.
There will be participation from clergy and laity from the Aroostook Cluster. A special feature of the service will be the reading of the scripture in various languages. People are invited to gather outside for a butterfly release at the conclusion of the service, followed by a potluck fellowship meal in the church dining room.
