EASTON – Clarence Kempton Adams, 96, passed away peacefully with family by his side, Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Cary Medical Center in Caribou. He was born August 21, 1917, in Presque Isle, the son of Clarence L. and Etta J. (Lamoreau) Adams.
Kempton grew up in Easton and graduated from Easton High School. He attended Ricker College for two years and graduated from the University of Maine in 1941 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics and Farm Management. After his college education, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1942. Earning the rank of Corporal, he served his country overseas in Normandy, N. France and in Rhineland during World War II.
He married Mona G. (Foren) Adams and together they lived in Easton until she passed in 2012. They operated the family potato farm until their retirement and then moved to the West Ridge Manor in Easton where he was manager of the Easton Housing Corporation for 15 years.
Kempton is survived by his sister, Wynetta (Adams) and her husband, John Milligan of Youngstown, OH; sister-in-law, Shirley Foren of Haines City, FL; two step-children, Vincent Mahany and his wife, Astrid of New Glouster, Pamela Best and her husband, Rick of West Deptford, NJ; several nieces and nephews, including Hugh Turner and his wife, Lynda and their two sons, Holden and Hunter of Easton; and three special step-grandsons, Scott, Mathiew and Chris.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Mona, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Claude Foren.
A Committal service for Kempton and Mona was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Mt. Shilo Cemetery in Easton with Pastor Sue Brown officiating.
