CARIBOU – Hope Stewart, 96, surrounded by her family, peacefully reported to Heaven on May 29, 2014. Born in Houlton, she lived a long life and will be greatly missed by her family.
She was an active member of the Caribou United Baptist Church for many years, serving in various roles of ministry. She worked for Cary Medical Center as head of the Medical Records Department for over 30 years, retiring at the age of 71. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting mittens for her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren, playing games and spending time with them on a regular basis. She loved going out to eat with her best friend, Olive Choate, who predeceased her 5 years ago.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Townsend Soucier and husband Daniel of Caribou; four grandchildren, Julie Watson Tucci and husband Dennis, Scott Watson and wife Sharon, Eric Watson and wife Cindy and Karin Watson Howe and husband George; five great-grandchildren, Sarah Francoeur Dennison and husband Joshua, Bryan Schurman and wife Amanda, Kayla Schurman, and Kellen and Clara Watson; and two great-great-grandsons; Jaxon Schurman and Behr Dennison.
Hope was predeceased by her mother, Mae Cummings Noble; and her husband, William Stewart, in 1998. The family wants to extend a special thank you to Cindy Richendollar, a very special friend, and Autumn Hammond, Rose Levasseur and Cierra Soucier who helped the family care for Hope during the last months of her life.
Friends called at the Caribou United Baptist Church on Sunday, June 1, 2014, from 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral which was held at 4 p.m. with Rev.
