Caribou Little League report

Caribou Little League is in full swing now, with 10 games scheduled this week. Coming up this Saturday, June 7, is the annual Tag Day, when Caribou Little League players spread out at locations throughout Caribou collecting donations for the league. The league counts on contributions to help fund the league, and any donation is appreciated. This day will also feature five games being played.
Summaries of recent contests are as follows:
MVH/VFW 9, Police 8
Maine Veterans Home/VFW battled back from a 6-0 to walk off with the 9-8 victory over Police.  MVH/VFW got hits from Willow Whitten, Josh Cummings, Brannon Hall and Abby St. Peter. On the mound, Jake Berkoski notched 10 strikeouts in five innings. Young pitchers Logan Griffeth and Brannon Hall pitched to start and finish the game.
For Police, Devin Saggese, Conner Rideout and Alex Hyde all had hits. Saggese pitched very well deep into the game before being relieved by Jacob and Jeremy Bolen.
Machias Savings Bank 16, Shop & Save 0
Machias Savings Bank used timely hitting and solid pitching to get by Shop & Save for the second time in a week. Brevin Barnes led the MSB offense with two doubles and a single, Seth Roy had a triple and a single and Benoit Levesque doubled and singled. Levesque, Roy, Zack Madore and Brennan Poitras combined on the pitching victory.
For Shop & Save, Alex Ezzy had a double and single, Alex Picard doubled and Sawyer Deprey and Miles Collier added singles. Ezzy started on the mound and went 3-2/3 innings, with Sawyer Deprey, Collier and Destinee Goodridge finishing up the game.
Woodland Eagles 10, Police 5
Eagle pitcher Ghent Durepo struck out eight of the nine batters he faced to help lead his team to a victory over the Police. Amber Moir had a triple and Keith Bray had a double, two singles and a walk to reach base all four at-bats.
For the Police, Devin Saggese walked and scored a run, Cameron Ouellette scored off a triple and walked and Alex Hyde singled, walked, and scored a run.
Knights of Columbus 14, Tigers 8
Knights of Columbus got good late-inning pitching by Colby Bonville and Ari Plante to get by the Tigers. Ryan Austin, Bryce Bonville, Marcus Daigle, Hailey Holmquist, Nathan Pitre and Zach Caron all had a hit to pace the Knights. The Tigers received their only hit from Bryant Hayes, but scored their runs by capitalizing on 13 walks allowed by K of C pitchers.  Ethan Albair and Rylan Masse each scored two runs for the Woodland squad.
Machias Savings Bank 16, Shop & Save 0
Brennan Poitras pitched a masterful complete-game, one-hit shutout while adding three hits and four RBI to lead Machias Savings Bank.
Benoit Levesque also added three hits, including a home run over the left field fence. Brevin Barnes had a single and Sam Marquis and Colin Poitras had RBIs for MSB.
For Shop & Save, Sawyer Deprey singled and Devin Wright walked as the only batters to reach base.
Knights of Columbus 20, Police 16
In a back-and-forth contest, the Knights of Columbus pulled out the victory over the Police. For KC, Ryan Austin scored five runs on three hits. Cory Herbert, Colby Bonville and Bryce Bonville added two hits each for KC, and Cole DeCambra reached base and scored a run.
Police was led by Connor Rideout, who scored four runs on a pair of hits. Alex Hyde, Jeremy Bolen, Jacob Bolen and Cameron Ouellette each added a hit. Alya Theriault reached base three times as well to help Police.
Shop & Save 11, MVH/VFW 7
Shop & Save built an 8-1 lead, and then held on for the win over Maine Veterans Home/VFW. Leading the hitting attack for Shop & Save were Alex Ezzy with a double and a triple and Sawyer Deprey with two doubles and four RBI. Ethan Holdsworth had two singles and three RBI and Alex Picard, Jonah Thayer, and Parker Deprey each had singles.
On the mound for Shop & Save, starter Alex Ezzy went 4-2/3 innings to get the victory and Sawyer Deprey came in to finish the game out.
For MVH/VFH, Matt Smith was the leading hitter with a double and a single and Willow Whitten and Jake Berkoski added singles. On the mound, Josh Cummings pitched 4-1/3 innings, followed by Brannon Hall who finished up.
