Lydia Ferris, the 6th grade daughter of Dan and Leslie Ferris, is Easton Elementary School’s Student of the Quarter for the third quarter.
Lydia is a hardworking and kind student who always gives 100 percent. She is a wonderful citizen and sets a great example for her peers. Lydia is a good friend and is always respectful to those around her. She was treated to a lunch at Subway with the principal, Mrs. Malenfant, compliments of Subway restaurant in Presque Isle. Congratulations Lydia!
Easton Alumni news
The Easton Alumni Committee invites you to take a look at their new link which can be accessed through the Easton Jr./Sr. High website. Items available for viewing include the 2014 alumni newsletter, scholarship balances and donations, as well as previous scholarship recipients.
School registration
Easton School Department is now accepting registration for children entering kindergarten or ECP in the fall of 2014. All Easton children who are 5 years old on or before Oct. 15 are eligible for enrollment in the kindergarten class. All Easton children who are 4 years old on or before Oct. 15 are eligible for the ECP (Early Childhood Program) class. Call the Easton Elementary School at 488-7700 as soon as possible to register your child for either of the above classes. The classroom teacher will notify parents/guardians when an informational meeting for parents is scheduled. The following documents are required by the state of Maine: proof of immunizations, birth certificate (hospital copies are not acceptable), and proof of residency (rental agreement, utility bill, etc). These documents must be presented prior to the child beginning school.
Rec summer programs
The Easton Recreation Department is accepting registrations for all summer programs. For more information, email the Recreation Department at recreation@eastonme.com or call 551-7737. Summer program books can be picked up at the Easton Town Office.
Art Camp
Easton Rec will be offering a 3-D Art Camp from June 16-20 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hall. The cost is $15. Open to grades 1 and up. Participants will be making masks, sculptures, shadow boxes and mobiles.
Dutch Soccer Camp
Dutch Soccer Camp will be offered through the Easton Recreation Department, June 16-20 from 2-4 p.m. Please note the change in location, it will be held on the girls’ soccer field. The cost is $65 and it’s open to ages 4 and up.
Rec calendar
Wednesday, June 11 — Junior Activities field trip; meeting at Wintergreen Arts Center at 9:30-11 a.m. We will then go to lunch. FMI contact Hillary.
Father’s Day crafts after school at the Hall until 4:15 p.m. Free.
Major League practice at 5:30 p.m. on the field near the tennis courts.
Thursday, June 12 — Hershey practice after school from 2:45-4:30 p.m. in Presque Isle.
Minor League practice at 5:30 p.m. on the field near the tennis courts.
Friday, June 13 — Final day to register for summer recreation activities.
Area Agency on Aging in the Recreation Room at the Manor starting at 11 a.m. Lunch will be provided following the program.
Monday, June 16 — Art Camp at the Hall from 9 a.m. to noon. Pre-registration required.
Dutch Soccer Camp on the girls’ soccer field from 2-4 p.m. Pre-registration required.
Girls’ Day at the Hall from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
