Fun at annual AMAC dance

CARIBOU, Maine — The Adult Multiple Alternative Center of Caribou, representing gifted and challenged individuals, held their 13th annual dance with a beach party theme at the Caribou VFW on May 17.
There were nearly 200 attendees — family, friends, adults and caregivers — from different organizations and facilities in Aroostook County for the dance, enjoying the music provided by the band “Sound Friendship.”
Norma Akerson and Michelle Hanson catered a wonderful array of homemade delicacies; Pierre and Sherri Dumont served as the official photographers of the evening, capturing pictures of attendees dressed in their beach attire.
Melinda St. Peter was in charge of the decorations and, with volunteers, the hall was adorned with beach and Hawaiian motif which served as a wonderful backdrop for the pictures.
Janice St. Peter, assisted by adults at the Aroostook Multiple Alternative Center, distributed certificates of thanks to those who participated. They offered a special “Thank-You” to the VFW Post No. 9389 and board members Bonnie Pack, Mary Kirkpatrick, Mona Martin, Patrick Bennett, Mike Quinlin, Sean Duplissie, John Hedman, Janice and Melinda St. Peter, AMAC Director Lynn Murphy and adults of the AMAC as well as sponsors of the dance. Volunteers Brandie Makepeace-Cote, Debra Tardy, Angela Pelkey, and the Anderson and St. Peter Families were also specially thanked.
