DYER BROOK, Maine — Jonathan Porter, principal at Southern Aroostook Community School has announced the Honor Parts for the Class of 2014.
Brooke Morgan Lilley, valedictorian, is the daughter of Jack and Michelle Lilley. She is a member of the National Honor Society where she has participated in the Red Cross Blood Drive and will volunteer in the Special Olympics.
Lilley has also participated in drama productions, yearbook, Dollars for Scholars, and Upward Bound. She has been very active in community service projects, especially in her church and has volunteered her time to babysit for the ACAP program. She currently holds a part-time job at Brookside Restaurant.
Lilley was chosen for the Phi Beta Kappa award, the Maine Youth Leadership award and the MPA Principal’s award. She was also chosen by teachers for Student of the Quarter. Lilley attended Girls State as well. She will attend Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire in the fall studying in the biology pre-med program.
Jessica Dawn Tucker, salutatorian, is the daughter of Harris and Kim Tucker. She has been active in both varsity basketball and varsity softball throughout high school, being named Aroostook County Senior All Star in basketball as well as All-Aroostook. She has volunteered as assistant coach for peewee girls basketball. Tucker has participated in Dollars for Scholars and drama productions, a member of the Varsity Club and is secretary of the senior class. She is a member of the National Honor Society, where she has volunteered at blood drives and Special Olympics. Tucker has also fundraised for cancer research.
Tucker was a top 10 finalist for the Hood Sportsmanship Award and was a 2014 school winner of the Wendy Heismann Award. She plans to attend UMPI in the fall majoring in the physical therapy assistant program and then continue on in athletic training.
