Calling all graduates of Presque Isle High School! Whether you just graduated from PIHS or are preparing for your 50th Class Reunion this summer, the future of our hometown needs your help.
For the majority of us graduates of PIHS, the Presque Isle Recreation Department had significant influence on our childhood years. What are your childhood memories of the Rec? Are they memories of taking part in one of the many programs like soccer, arts & crafts, swim lessons at the outdoor pool, Junior City Government, summer baseball, or attending the dances? Is it one particular coach or swim instructor that you remember most? Or maybe you remember that day you first met a lifelong friend. Those special memories and experiences from our childhood make up a part of who we are today. And it is those same experiences we want to continue to provide our youth for generations to come.
The Presque Isle Community Center Fundraising Committee is working hard to help do just that, ensuring community recreation opportunities for the future. To do so, they have been tasked with raising $3.75 million toward building a new community center; certainly a large task, but with the support of PIHS alumni, a task that can be accomplished.
How can PIHS graduates help? The Presque Isle Community Center Fundraising Committee has set up the PIHS Class Challenge. We are reaching out to each PIHS class to engage their former classmates to help make this new community center and outdoor pool a reality. Whether it is a donation of $10, $100, $1,000 or more, it all makes a difference. If each class from 1950-2000 raises an average of $10,000, we will be over $500,000 closer to a new community center for our children, families, and seniors. As a sign of appreciation, the class that proves the most generous by the end of this year will be given the naming rights to the gymnasium floor of the new center.
Growing up in Presque Isle has made us who we are today. The community was there for us when we needed it. Now it’s our turn to step up. Let’s give future generations the boost they need to keep our hometown special.
