MAPLETON NEWS

On June 22, Katelyn Amero, of Mapleton, received MoonDance Studios’ highest honor. Following the final performance of the studios’ annual recital at the Caribou Performing Arts Center, Amero was named “MoonDance Studios’ Dancer of the Year for 2014.”
Kim Lauritsen, owner of MoonDance Studios, explained, “This award is decided on by myself and my instructors. The dancer chosen is one who stands out among their peers. They must be a talented dancer, but beyond that, they must have a passion for dance, a great work ethic and a positive attitude. Katelyn has all these qualities and more. She was our perfect choice this year.”
Amero joined MoonDance Studios in Presque Isle in 2007 at the age of four, and has enjoyed all her classes, especially clogging.
This year’s recital marks her eighth one with the studio. Amero stated she was surprised and excited to receive this award and is very proud to be a MoonDancer. She is the daughter of Scott and Laurie Amero of Mapleton.
