Gorneault first in Collins’ race

CARIBOU, Maine — Eighty five runners and five walkers participated in the June 22 S.W. Collins 5K Road Race, with P.J. Gorneault of Caribou and Gabrille Naranja of Fort Kent capturing the overall titles.
Gorneault completed the course in 15 minutes and 56 seconds, while Naranja came in at 19:02 for the victory among women.
Behind Gorneault in the top 10 were: second, Welly Ramsey, 16:22; third, Curtis Wheeler, 16:30; fourth, Evan Graves, 16:47; fifth, David Chamberlain, 17:23; sixth, Lucas Kinney, 18:11; seventh, Bradley Burlock, 18:33; eighth, Trevor Levesque, 18:43; ninth, Chris Rines, 18:47; and 10th, Paul Johnson, 18:55.
Naranja was 11th overall. The other top females were: Alecia Palmer, 20:15; Beth Ann Chamberlain, 20:30; Katrina Howe, 21:17; and Nicole Hanscom, 21:21.
First place in the walker’s division went to Amanda Roberts with a time of 41:31. Kathy Mazzuchelli was second in 47:28.
Age division winners were: 14-and-under female, Teagan Ewings, 23:55; 14-and-under male, Daniel Randolph, 21:15;    15-19 female, Rylee Warman, 23:06; 15-18 male, Kinney; 19-29 female, Palmer; 19-29 male, Ramsey; 30-39 female, Chamberlain; 30-39 male, Graves; 40-49 female, Angela Ewings, 22:19; 40-49 male, Will Sweetser, 19:19; 50-59 female, Kimberley Wright, 22:12; 50-59 male, Leo Kashian, 19:51; 60-69 male, Ed Malone, 23:56.
A kids’ fun run was also held. Division winners were: 4 and under girls, Brianna Roger; 4 and under boys, Brady Bailey; 5-6 girls, Teanne Ewings; 5-6 boys, Isaac Staples; 7-8 girls, Sofia Fleury; 7-8 boys, Garrett LeTourneau; 9-10 girls, Olivia Leichliter; and 11-12 boys, Gage LeTourneau. A total of 22 youths participated.
The 5K was the third in the seven-race County Challenge Series.
