HOULTON – Lydia C. Bragan, 85, died July 2, 2014, at a local hospital following a brief illness. She was born August 19, 1928, in Smyrna, where she grew up, the daughter of Arthur and Jessie (Sewell) Brownlow.
Lydia had been employed at the Northland Hotel, Ricker College cafeteria, and several businesses she and her husband owned. She was a member of the Oakfield Baptist Church. She also worked at Catholic Charities of Maine and Lydia enjoyed baby sitting and housekeeping. Lydia was a very caring mother, grandmother and great-great grandmother. Her family was very special to her. Her pretty smile will be missed by all her special friends at the Madigan House.
Lydia leaves her family, a daughter and her husband, Diane and Dennis Clark of Houlton; a daughter and her husband, Trudy and Joey Tarr of Oakfield; daughter, Vickey Tilley of Littleton; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Bragan; a sister-in-law, Priscilla Brownlow; seven grandchildren, Denise Hitchcock, Deanna and Bruce Edkins, Darren and Rita Clark, Jolynn Sherman, Jason and Alyssa Tarr, Brian and Molly Bragan and Tim and Dorinda Bragan; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Predeceasing her was her husband, Elbridge Bragan; a son, Brian Bragan; brothers, Stanley and Ronald Brownlow; a sister, Alice Collier; a son-in-law, Junior Tilley; and a grandson-in-law, Brett Hitchcock.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 5 at the Dunn Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Lunn officiating. Interment was in the Oakfield Cemetery.
