PRESQUE ISLE, Maine— The second annual Wildcat Soccer Camp is taking place July 21-25 at the Presque Isle Middle School’s turf field.
Under the direction of varsity boys’ soccer coach Joe Greaves, the camp is for girls and boys entering grades 2-9 for the 2014-15 school year.
The camp will serve as a great preseason for those entering their high school, middle school or recreation soccer seasons. However, in addition to being open to experienced players, those with no prior experience in the sport are also encouraged to attend.
Members of the SAD 1 soccer coaching staff, as well as past and current Wildcat players, will serve as coaches throughout the week.
The camp runs Monday through Friday, with the first session, for students entering grades 2-6, taking place from 3-5 p.m. The second session is for those in grades 6-9 and goes from 5-7 p.m.
Sixth-graders may choose either session, but it is recommended they attend the session that best fits their ability level.
The camp will introduce young players to the fundamentals of the game and help improve the skills of the more experienced players. There will be drills, individual competitions and team games, with an emphasis placed on sportsmanship and having fun while learning more about the game.
Registration will take place on the first day of camp up to 30 minutes before the session begins. Those wishing to attend may also register in advance through the SAD 1 Athletic Office by calling 764-6507.
The fee is $45 per student, with discounts offered to families with two or more attendees. All campers will receive a Wildcat soccer T-shirt.
