PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Officers have a new cruiser to patrol with, following the Presque Isle Police Department’s recent acquisition of new vehicle.

“We just got a new cruiser from Percy’s Auto Sales. It’s an all-wheel-drive Dodge Charger — a 2014,” said Chief Matt Irwin, of the PIPD.
Irwin said funds for the vehicle came from the department’s reserve account.
“It cost just over $26,000 and replaces an older Dodge Charger. The old cruiser had over 100,000 miles on it. We set money aside in our budget for purchases such as this,” he said.
Once lettered and all necessary equipment is installed, Irwin said it would be in service.
Irwin said he was pleased with being able to work with a local dealer.
“It books for over $38,000. They gave us a good deal on it,” said Irwin. “The bid process now includes getting the vehicle here — which can benefit local vendors. To the extent we can use a local dealer, we try to do so.”
