The Crown of Maine Balloon Fest and the Mapleton Lions Club are pleased that the Chapman Snowmobile Club has agreed to host the “Public Pilot and Balloon Crew Breakfast” during the annual Balloon Fest.
On Saturday, Aug. 23, the Chapman Snowmobile Club will provide its famous breakfast for the pilots and their crews at the clubhouse on the Town Hall Road in Chapman. The public is invited to attend the breakfast and meet the pilots and get their autographs. Weather permitting, the balloons will launch at 6 a.m., and after their flights, the pilots and crews will return for breakfast. Rain or shine, everyone is invited to breakfast. Mark your calendars!

Church luncheon
The Mapleton United Methodist Church will be hosting its monthly luncheon Friday, Aug. 1 at 11:30 a.m. at the church. All are invited to stop by and enjoy a great, home-cooked meal! Donations accepted.
Dean’s List
The University of Maine at Farmington has announced that JoLonna Gough, of Mapleton, was named to the spring 2014 Dean’s List.
Pool hours
The Mapleton Community Pool is open Monday through Friday from 2-6:45 p.m. and Saturdays from 1-4:45 p.m. The pool is closed on Sundays. The pool can also be rented for parties. Contact Recreation Director Jacob Graham at 764-3754 or recdirector@mapleton.me for more information.
