MADAWASKA, Maine — “Are we Acadians, French Canadians, or Americans and how did the Acadians settle in the St. John Valley?” That question and more will be answered at a special presentation at the Madawaska High School Library on Thursday.
In 1785, the Madawaska Territory spread from Grand Falls to the St. Francis river and was home to 60 Maliseet families. This is the story of the French families who made this their home and of their descendants.
Here’s your chance to get knowledgeable about your Acadian history. Join organizers at the Madawaska High School library on July 31 at 6 p.m. to learn more. Presented by the Acadian Archives Acadienne Director Lise Pelletier.
This is free and open to the public.
