On Saturday, July 26, the families of Eursal (Bill) Dunphy and Boardman Dunphy enjoyed a family reunion, which was held at the Dunphy camp at the head of Mattawamkeag Lake. This get together was headed by Esther and Bob Dunphy and several other members of the family, and was a great success. Dunphys came from all parts of the country to reminisce and enjoy the potluck dinner. During the day many local friends dropped by to extend good wishes and to meet members of the family who had come a long way for the event.

Gail (Webb) Davis, a former resident of Island Falls, has arrived from her home in Columbia, S.C. to spend some time at the Webb cottage on Pleasant Pond and to visit family and friends here. While here, she enjoyed the Summerfest activities, which included the Alumni banquet on Aug. 2.
James Hawkes, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sharpnack and Amy and Mr. and Mrs Michael Pumphrey, all from Maryland, have arrived for a week’s visit here in Island Falls, and also to attend the committal service for James Hawkes Sr. who passed away in December. While here they enjoyed their stay at a cottage on Pleasant Pond and also the Summerfest activities and visiting with family.
I still have a few loyal feathered friends eating the sunflower seeds that the gray squirrel has left behind, as he is not so persistent at cleaning out the feeders right now. The purple finch are steady feeders and the also the chickadees. I had my two calico cats in my backyard yesterday. I imagine they are after any field mice that may be there and they also stand guard at the barn — very patiently waiting for an unsuspecting mouse, or what ever, to show. I still waiting for any deer to show—-maybe when it gets colder Filled my hummingbird feeder again as I have several of the small birds just about every day at the feeder and also enjoying the bee balm in my flower garden. I haven’t seen the groundhog in a while; maybe my neighborly cats have scared them off.
