On July 26, the Island Falls Lakes Association (IFLA) sponsored their 11th annual Around-the-Pond Canoe/Kayak Races at Birch Point Lodge and Campgrounds on Pleasant Lake in Island Falls.
Each year the paddlers raise money for the Southern Aroostook Community High School’s Dollars for Scholars program. The IFLA awards a $500 scholarship each year to a graduating senior. IFLA leaders would like to thank all of its members and the local businesses who donated prizes for the races or money for the scholarship.
