CARIBOU — The solar system is a pretty vast space, but a program at the Caribou Public Library next month helps put tremendous distances into perspective in the fifth annual Solar System Peppercorn Model Walk.
Local science educator at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics and the Francis Malcolm Science Center Larry Berz will once again lead the yearly science adventure that starts at the northern door of the Caribou Middle School. From there, the science educator will demonstrate the size and scope of our corner in the galaxy by using peppercorns to create a model of the solar system.
School-aged children, parents and grandparents are encouraged to attend the short walk that’s filled with astronomical information. The event starts at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, and will last until about noon. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, a rain date is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 13.
