Enterprising youth — Any boy or girl may get a Brownie Camera free by securing subscriptions to the Aroostook Times. In an earlier advertisement: Attention Boys! A bag of assorted marbles to any boy who brings us the name of a real prospective purchaser for a piano, organ or phonograph — Houlton Music Store, A. E. Astle, proprietor.
Houlton’s third annual fair — The advertisement touts a “Midway Livelier than Ever” with: free open air high class Vaudeville every afternoon; Prof. W. G. Flaxon who will make a dare-devil balloon ascension with six parachute drops each day; Perell Troupe of European trained lady gymnasts; Craines Singing Sunbeams, 18 colored singers who will give two entertainments daily; as well as baseball games and fireworks.

Monument Lodge 96 issues history — Monument Lodge Number 96, F. and A. M., will issue very soon an attractively bound and quite complete history of the lodge since its founding. The history was conceived and practically completed by the late Amos Putnam. Following his death, Hazen Nevers finished the document and brought it up to date.
Why not Houlton Dollar Days? — In this week’s editorial column: Many merchants have asked us in the last few weeks why it is that Houlton cannot stage a dollar day observance during the month of August as so many other towns and cities do. It seems definite it would be good business to reestablish the custom at the first opportunity. Perhaps this is a project for the Chamber of Commerce to sponsor.

Stockade planned at Garrison Hill — The Garrison Hill Committee has enough logs to construct some 60 to 70 feet of stockade, according to Committee Chairman A. E. Holden. The stockade constructed thus far was built entirely by volunteer labor, and because of limited funds available to the committee, it is hoped the additional stockade can be constructed in the same manner.
Rhoda home from European study — Richard Rhoda, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Rhoda, has returned home after spending six months in Europe where he completed his junior year at the University of Vienna, Austria.

Crandall, McCordic and Tidd family reunions — A Crandall family reunion was held July 30 at the camp of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Crandall at Pleasant Pond in Island Falls. On the weekend of July 9, the family of Ruth McCordic gathered at Camp Williams in Monticello for a family reunion and to celebrate Ruth’s 89th birthday. The families of Allie and Jean Tidd gathered Aug. 6 at the home of Elwood and Marie Tidd.
