MAPLETON, Maine — Buck Construction captured this year’s Mapleton Little League playoff title with a 10-3 win over Buck Farms in the July 31 championship game.
Chance Bragan was the winning pitcher and helped his cause offensively with a pair of doubles. Mark Graves and Colby Buckley had three singles each, while Gavin Akeley and Mitchell Dumais contributed two each.
For Buck Farms, Ian Michaud and Ricky Goupille handled the pitching chores. Michaud was the offensive leader with three hits, while Austin Pictou had a pair of singles.
The semifinal contests were played July 29 and 30. Buck Construction downed Doyen’s in the first playoff game, 9-6. Buck Construction took a 5-0 lead in the first inning, but Doyen’s clawed back and drew to within a run (7-6) in the fifth. Dumais homered and doubled, winning pitcher Buckley had two doubles and a single, Gavin Akeley doubled and singled, Cameron Levasseur tripled and singled and Riley Roderick had two singles as part of the Buck Construction offense.
Quinn DeMerchant and Sam Beaulieu both went 2 for 3, while Zack Fletcher and Cavin Cleaves each had hits for Doyen’s.
In the other semi, Buck Farms blanked Perley’s Logging, 9-0, as Goupille threw no-hit ball over the first three innings before giving way to Nate Willett, who struck out eight and allowed just one hit over the final three.
Michaud had three hits, including a double, while Goupille had two singles for Buck Farms, who scored all its runs in the first two innings.
