Island Falls half-marathon race/relay is Saturday

The Island Falls Half Marathon/Relay is this weekend in Island Falls starting at the municipal building, with registration beginning at 7 a.m. with the race at 8 a.m. Registration fee is $25.
There will be cash prizes in several categories, as well as hundreds of dollars in door prizes. The race is part of the Aroostook Musterds summer racing circuit and was formerly called The County Open Half Marathon.
Proceeds above the cash payout will go to feed the hungry via local food banks and charities.

The half-marathon (13.1 miles) may be run by an individual or be broken into two-person or four-person relay teams. Each runner will run 3.1 miles with the last runner finishing with 3.4 miles. The course is mostly flat and is on both paved and dirt roads, along and over brooks and streams.
The race has been included in the Aroostook Musterds summer circuit promising a competitive race between runners from around the state of Maine and Eastern Canada.
