Chris Putnam, formerly of Houlton, scored a hole-in-one at the Spring Meadows Golf Course in Gray on July 23, 2014.
It was Putnam’s first ace and was witnessed by his son, Garrett. Putnam carded the hole-in-one of the sixth hole, which is a 124-yard par 3.
“Garrett and I were playing there in the morning before we continued on to Fenway for an English soccer game,” said Putnam. “My brother Bill works at Spring Meadows — as a greenskeeper for the 18-hole course — so he was one of the first people to find out about it. It’s one of the nicest courses in Maine.”

Putnam’s son actually looked in the cup first and found it.
“I thought it was close, but didn’t want to look greedy,” he said. “It was nice to have him find it and it was a memory we both won’t forget!”
