    ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. – Lillian Hulda (Rasmussen) Johnson, 87, passed away peacefully, after a short illness, Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, surrounded by family members.
    She was a resident of Green Mountain Nursing & Rehabilitation in Colchester, Vt.  Lillian was born July 25, 1926, in Perham, the daughter of the late Richard and Lillian (Landeen) Rasmussen. At an early age her family moved to Connor where she grew to adulthood. She attended Caribou High School, passed the GED, and later completed classes to receive her diploma in 1982. While working as a sales clerk at the candy counter of Landaus Department Store, she met her future husband, August E. Johnson. On Nov. 26, 1948, they were married at Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church in New Sweden. They resided in Caribou for the next 50 years where they raised their family before moving to Harbor View in South Burlington, Vt.  Lillian was a founding member of Faith Lutheran Church in Caribou and, more recently, attended Ascension Lutheran Church in South Burlington. She was a volunteer and later employed as a CNA at Cary Memorial Hospital. Her interests included flower gardening, music, jigsaw puzzles, walking, church activities, and helping her family.
    She is survived by her son, Brian Johnson and wife, Mary-Ann, of Essex Junction, Vt.; daughters, Jacquelyn Judkins and husband, Robert, of Mount Vernon, Lea Johnson of Burlington, Vt., and Donna Johnson-Rattray and husband, Gerald, of Augusta; grand-children, Christopher and wife, Danielle, Karen, and Kevin Judkins; Joshua, Christopher, and Erika Johnson, Erin and Kyra Norton; great-grandson, Landon Johnson; and a large extended family. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, August; son, Mark Johnson; and sister, Edith Ostlund.
    Lillian’s family wishes to thank the wonderful and caring staffs at Green Mountain Nursing & Rehabilitation and the Vermont Respite House for the excellent care she received during her stay with them.                 Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 23rd, at 1 p.m. at Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church in New Sweden, ME. Family and friends are invited to gather for a reception in the church hall following the service.  Lillian and her husband, August, will be laid to rest at the New Sweden Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lillian’s memory may be made to: Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church, 48 Capitol Hill Road, P.O.
