The 2014 Club Championship was held this past weekend, with plenty of exciting competition. In the Ladies’ Division, Ashley Wallace came from behind on the second day to win her first championship with her career round 89 and win by one stroke over second-place finisher Kara Marino. In the Junior Division, Ryan Dee took command on the first day, shooting 75, then followed up with a 78 on Sunday to win his second Junior Club Championship. The Men’s Championship saw a seesaw battle, with Jerry York holding a slim one-stroke lead (72) on Saturday over Porter Gervais and Ian Gervais. But in Sunday’s misty rain, Porter showed his mettle by shooting 74 to win his first Club Championship over second-place finisher, brother Ian. Mark Anderson’s rounds of 79 and 84 allowed him the win the Men’s B Division over Keith Harrington, while Vaughn Putnam claimed the Men’s C Division Championship.
Men’s Twilite starts its championship season this week with the Porter and Ian Gervais team holding the top spot. The 16-team field in the championship has quite a few strong teams that can give the Gervais boys some trouble. Good luck to all teams.
This Friday evening, Aug. 22, we will hold our second Couples Scramble at 5 p.m. Bring your partner and have some fun in this mixed scramble event.
The annual Babe Caron Member/Guest Tournament will be held Aug. 30 and 31, so members get your guest/partner and be ready for a great time with another great field of teams. Already 23 teams have signed up and we are looking for another 20 teams. On Friday, Aug. 29, our gala Paramutual Pre-Tourney Party will be held, starting at 5 p.m. Long drive, chipping, and putting contests will be held and open to the public, as well as food, music for dancing, and paramutual ticket purchases for the golf tournament. Get in on the action and own part of a team you think can “win it all.” Come to the HCGC clubhouse Friday and don’t miss the fun.
