CARIBOU — Caribou’s city manager Austin Bleess has been appointed to two committees this summer, affording him opportunities to make sure that Caribou and Aroostook County have representation statewide and on an international level.

Earlier this month, Bleess was voted onto the executive board of the Maine Town, City and County Management Association at their annual conference, and earlier this summer he earned a place on the International City/County Management Association.
“I’m excited to represent Caribou and Aroostook County on both of these committees,” Bleess said last Friday.
He explained that MTCMA does a lot of great things to broaden the knowledge and promote necessary values for Maine’s local government administrators, and the ICMA affords global connections to be made.
“The ICMA, as it says in its name, is international and it’s going to be a great opportunity to network with people and managers from around the world,” Bleess said, stressing the emphasis on the importance of responsible city management and professional development.
Bleess also stressed that his participation in these committees does not come with a cost, as most committee meetings are webinars and conference calls.
