Recent NMCC grad honored for undergraduate work

     PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A recent NMCC graduate is being honored by a professional association for her outstanding undergraduate work. The Maine Health Information Management Association (MeHIMA) is recognizing Lisa Jenkins, of Presque Isle, for attaining the highest GPA for a graduate in the health information management program at NMCC.    Jenkins graduated with an associate in applied science degree in May with a 3.35 GPA, and hopes to begin working in this growing field. Jenkins was in the first class to graduate from this new program at NMCC.
Donna Humphrey, RN, of St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor, made the presentation June 3 at the college.
“The Maine Health Information Management Association, a component of a national association, promotes the responsible use of health information. The Association provides professional development and supports education for those who work in the health information field in Maine,” said Humphrey. “MeHIMA is proud to recognize the achievements of students like Lisa and we’re pleased to extend to her a warm welcome into this exciting career.”
Along with a framed certificate, Jenkins received a financial award.
