PRESQUE ISLE & WOODLAND – Benjamin F. Philbrook, 45, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at the Aroostook Health Care in Mars Hill after fighting a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis for many years. He was born in Caribou on May 11, 1969, the son of Freeman and Shirley (Flanders) Philbrook, and grew up in Woodland.
Ben was a single father to his only daughter, Samantha.
He was a hard worker, working as a floor installer. Ben was fun to be around; he made you laugh and was known for his jokes and good sense of humor. He was always ready to try something new, and enjoyed his sister Rose’s cooking. We know time goes by, but the memory of Ben will never fade from his family and friends’ hearts. He will live on thru family and friends, we will remember how fun and loving he was, and he will be greatly missed by many.
Ben is survived by his daughter, Samantha Philbrook; grandchildren, AnnaBelle May-Rose and Domanick Benjamin; three brothers and their wives, Stan and Donna Philbrook, Marcus and Vonda Philbrook, all of Presque Isle, LeRoy and Gail of Hendersonville, NC; a brother-in-law, Wayne Soucie of Presque Isle; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; an infant brother, Larry; two sisters, Rose Soucie and Stella Myshrall.
Special thanks to the Mars Hill Nursing Home staff for their loving care.
A graveside service was held Sunday, August 24, 2014, at the Washburn Riverside Extension Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to support his family and mailed to Samantha Philbrook, 42 Rainbow Road, Presque Isle, ME 04769. Online condolences may be shared at www.duncan-graves.com.
