HOULTON, Maine — Empowering Life Center, located at 144 Military St. in Houlton, is expanding its services and hosting an open house on Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be free food, drawings that include donated items of wood, homemade goody baskets, a free life coaching session, and a cribbage board designed by Chris Holmes.
Empowering Life Center offers conferences and trainings on a variety of topics several times a year. The next conference will be held on Oct. 24-25 featuring Kim and Bart Hadaway.  Each Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m., they host a time of worship, teaching, and prayer. All activities are open to everyone and reach individuals locally and throughout Canada.
The group is now offering the following services:
Three clinicians — Lois Flewelling, LCPC, Linda McCord, LCSW, and Tiffany Hartin, LCPC-C. All three counselors offer professional counseling services and the option for biblical-based therapy. They offer a variety of counseling services including help with depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder, relational conflict, parenting difficulties, and coping with major life changes such as divorce, death, and job loss.
Life and Wellness Coach — Terry Kenney. Life Coaching focuses on the present and future, not the past.  It is a partnership focused on your interests and aspirations. Life coaching addresses areas such as: life changes, relationships, work life and wellness by examining your current circumstances, working through obstacles and challenges, and choosing a course of action to bring about change.
Prayer Ministry Leaders — Sharon Broad and Cindy Mellia. Both Broad and Mellia have been trained as lay counselors to help people through whatever situation they are currently dealing with. They believe one can walk in freedom from their past. God can move powerfully and establish wholeness in a person’s life.  Beginning Monday, Sept. 15, from 6-8 p.m. Broad and Mellia are available to pray with people. Appointments can also be arranged at other times.
The Gathering — Held upstairs each Saturday night at 6 p.m., the Gathering offers another opportunity for worship, teaching, and prayer. This is a Bible-based, Holy Spirit-inspired gathering led by Mark and Claudette Babin. All are welcomed.
Friends of Aroostook — A nonprofit farm cooperative that provides for seniors and food pantries throughout the state. Their mission is to feed the hungry by planting, harvesting, and donating fresh fruits and vegetables. Executive director, Dale Flewelling, leads the organization.
