Fraser Timber honors employees for safety

    ASHLAND — A company safety picnic was held on Aug. 28 to honor Fraser Timber LLC employees for their continued efforts to ensure a safe workplace. Fraser Timber honored those who have worked safely over the years. Employees were presented with certificates of appreciation and cash. The event was held at the Ashland Fire Department facility.

    Fraser Timber recently held a company safety picnic at the Ashland Fire Department, recognizing sawmill employees for years of service and continued commitment to safety at the mill.     Prior to the meal, a ladder golf tournament was held. Teams were comprised of two employees each and the winners were Mike Cote and Arkon Horne. The second-place team was made up of Dan Cote and David Cote. Third place went to Leo Bard and Jean Marc Theriault. At the conclusion of the meal the company awarded employees with cash and door prizes.
    Honorees who have worked the following timeframes without a recordable incident included:
• 20 Year Awards — Michael Buck, David Cook and Roger Gagnon;
• 15 Year Awards — Ricky Voisine, Gary Tilley and Pat White;
• 10 Year Awards — Clyde Eastman and Ed Marquis; and
• 5 Year Awards —   Galen Kennedy and Gerald Tilley.
    Fraser Timber employees have worked over 605 consecutive days without a lost-time injury.
    Mike Cote, human recourse manager, stated: “Our employees have done a remarkable job working safely over the past months and years. The sawmill industry is a very challenging working environment and for everyone to perform their required tasks before, during and after their respective shifts shows how truly committed they are to working safely.” 
    Roger Gagnon, safety manager for Fraser Timber, welcomed all the employees to the annual safety picnic and thanked the employees for coming. Gagnon commended all of the employees receiving safety awards for their outstanding safety performance over the years. He mentioned to employees that “your attention to following safe work practices each day is greatly appreciated.”
