The Houlton Recreation Department will be offering two fitness classes. Participants need to register for both classes by calling the rec center at 532-1310 by Sept. 9 or visit Facebook at Houlton Recreation Department and leave information there.
Classes being offered are:
Pi-yo Burn and Firm
Pi-yo Burn and Firm is all about gaining strength and improving flexibility through pilates and yoga designed moves, while burning calories moving to music.
Classes will start on Tuesday, Sept. 9 and will run for eight weeks each Tuesday and Thursday from 5-6 p.m. Instructor is Yvonne Hyman. Cost is $45 for Houlton residents and $65 for non-Houlton residents. Bring water, a yoga mat, sneakers and one- to five-pound weights are optional.
Zumba
This fitness class will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 9. The eight-week class will be held on Tuesday and Thursday at 6:15 p.m. Lura Griffin is the instructor for this Latin-inspired, dance fitness class. The class format combines fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body in an aerobic/fitness fashion. Cost is $45 for Houlton residents and $65 for non-Houlton residents. Participants should wear sneakers and comfortable clothes.
