The Dunphy family reunion was held at the head of Mattawamkeag Lake at Mark Roberts’ camp (formerly Bill and Eva Dunphy’s) on July 26, 2014 after a year of planning by Jane (Babes Dunphy) Harrigan and Evelyn Dunphy.
The reunion was a huge success with more than 165 family members and friends attending from as far away as Caracas, Venezuela, Arizona, Louisiana, Texas, Vermont, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania.
The reunion was planned by Laurie and Paul Breton; Cindy Emery; Dennis, Becky and Paul Drew; and Bob Dunphy. Scott Emery did the grilling.
Paul and Donna Drew won a quilt drawing and will give it to his mother, Phyllis (Dunphy) Drew, for her bed at the nursing home. Phyllis is 86 and was the oldest one to attend thanks to her family.
The first reunion was held in 1969 at the Dunphy family homestead on the Merriman Road that is now Pat Dunphy’s home, and over 100 attended.
There were a number of Dunphy reunions over the years at Sharon (Dunphy) and George DuBois’ camp on Pleasant Pond, and then two or three at Mattawamkeag Lake hosted by the Roberts family.
The group hopes to do this again in four to five years.
