    CHARETTE, Carmen Devoe, 88, CARIBOU & PRESQUE ISLE, at Presque Isle, August 26, 2014. Arrangements are under the care of Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou.

    CARIBOU & PRESQUE ISLE — Carmen Devoe Charette, 88, died August 26, 2014, at the Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Center. She was born April 9, 1926, in Eagle Lake, the daughter of Alvine (Raymond) and Levite Devoe. Carmen was predeceased by her husband, Camille Charette in 2010. They had been married for 68 years and raised eight children.
    Her children were her life. She encouraged their education and took pride in their accomplishments. From the time that she was a young bride and mother, she was proud of her independent spirit and her ability to make a good life for her children.
    In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Charette was predeceased by eight brothers and one sister: Leonard, Clarence, Raoul, Raymond, Lucien, Ferninand, Billy, Aldo and Lucienne. She is survived by one sister, Angeline (Tillie) Dube and her brother, Edgar Devoe, both of Connecticut. She is also survived by her eight children: Frieda Dickinson and her husband, David of Ashland, Carl Charette and his wife, Gloria of Gold Canyon, AZ, Claude Charette and his wife, Cindy of Pittsfield, NH, Dianne Young and her husband, John of Caribou, Glenn Charette and his wife, Marcia of Alfred, Camille Doebener and her husband, Peter of Washburn, Catherine Charette and her husband, Steffan Duplessis of Dexter and James Charette and his wife, Allyson Humphrey of Portland; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
    Friends called from 1 p.m. until time of services which were held 2 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. Interment was in the New Holy Rosary Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Presque Isle Rehab & Nursing.
