Easton seniors learn about the bees

    The Easton Senior Happy Days Club met Thursday, Aug. 28, for a pizza party. There were 27 members and one guest attending. Dan Turner, a local beekeeper, was the guest speaker. He talked about the life and habits of honey bees. He had many displays and some live bees. He answered many questions and gave a lot of interesting facts and information.

    The next meeting will Thursday, Sept. 11. They will be having a potluck meal at 11:30 a.m. The guest speaker will be Jim Gardner, Easton town manager.
    The Sept. 25 meeting will be at the Odd Fellows Hall sponsored by the Kids Cooking Camp.  There will be a $3 fee.
     All Easton seniors are invited to attend the club meetings and join our bus trips.

Crafters wanted

    Calling all crafters! The Easton Craft Fair is set for Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Easton Elementary School. Organizers are looking for crafters. If interested in selling your items, call Melissa Corbin at 227-4093 or email her at crazycountygirl96@gmail.com. The cost is $20 and vendors must provide their own table(s). Proceeds will go to support the Autism Support Group.

Wesleyan Church news

    On Sunday, Sept. 21, the Easton Wesleyan Church will be doing a four-wheeler run to Riverside Camp in Blaine. They will be leaving the church at 3:30 p.m. and returning around 7 p.m. For more information, call Melissa Corbin at 227-4093. There will be a barbecue supper upon arrival at the camp; please bring something to share!

Rec news

    Fall program books have gone home through the elementary and junior high schools. If your child isn’t enrolled in school in Easton and you would like a copy, stop by the Easton Town Office. 

   Upcoming Rec programs

    Junior Activities resume for the school year! The program is for our youngest participants — a time to play and socialize. Moms/caregivers are welcome, children who are potty trained may stay on their own. The group meets every Wednesday and Friday (when school is in session) from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Hall.     Fall Cooking Camp will run Sept. 22, 23 and 25 at the Hall from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The cost is $10. This program is open to grades one and up. Pre-registration required. On Thursday, Sept. 25, the children will be serving grandparents and other special folks in their lives. Please plan to join us. 
    Science Clinic at the Francis Malcolm Science Center will run on Sept. 23 and 25 from 1-2:30 p.m. There are lots of new, exciting things going on at the center, join in and see what the new instructor has planned! The cost is $10.
    Gymnastics has been requested over and over so we’ll be offering a camp on Sept. 29, 30 and Oct. 2 at All-Star Gymnastics. The cost is $30. Class will run from 9:30-10:45 a.m. in Mars Hill and transportation will depart at 9:10 a.m. and return around 11 a.m. Pre-registration required. 
    Archery Clinic will be held on Sept. 30 and Oct. 2 at the elementary school gym. Classes will take place at 1 or 2:30 p.m., depending on the breakdown of ages that sign-up. The cost is $15. 
    Dance Camp will be offered over harvest break in collaboration with Moon Dance Academy. The class will run on Oct. 6, 7, 9 and 10 from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Hall. The cost is $25. It will focus on hip-hop and jazz. 
    An Art Clinic will take place on Oct. 7 and 9 at the Hall from 1-2:30 p.m. The cost is $8. Come see what amazing plans the instructor has for us!

    First and second grade soccer at Washburn at 4:30 p.m. Third and fourth grade soccer at Washburn at 5:15 p.m. 
    Thursday, Sept. 11 — First and second grade soccer at Mars Hill starting at 3:15 p.m. Third and fourth grade soccer at Mars Hill starting at 4 p.m. 
    Friday, Sept. 12 — Junior Activities from 9:30-11a.m. at the Hall. 
    Senior Game Day at the Manor at 11:15 a.m. Please bring a bag lunch.
    Saturday, Sept. 13 — Fifth and sixth grade soccer round robin in Mars Hill. Time TBA.
    Monday, Sept. 15 — Senior Nutrition Class starting at 11 a.m. in the recreation room at the Manor. The cost is $3. We’ll be making soup.
    After-school cooking and gardening at the Hall until 4:15 p.m. Free.
    Tuesday, Sept. 16 — Third and fourth grade soccer at Ashland at 3:30 p.m. Fifth and sixth grade soccer practice.
    Wednesday, Sept. 17 — Junior Activities from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Hall.
    First and second grade soccer vs. Washburn at 4:45 p.m.
