CARIBOU – Arnold G. Williams, 88, died peacefully September 6, 2014, at Caribou following a brief illness. He was born in Caribou, October 27, 1925, the son of the late Alton and Mary (Holmes) Williams. He married Loretta Cyr on November 27, 1944.
Arnold was a retired farmer and potato grower, having farmed on the Lombard Road in Caribou for over 40 years. After his retirement, he and his wife worked for North Maine Woods at St. Juste Gate, a job he truly loved. Arnold was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman and had many stories to tell. He also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Loretta, of Caribou; his daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Ronald Moir of Caribou; his grandchildren, Lisa Collins and husband, Anthony, Alan Moir, Jason Moir and wife Kristie, Scott Moir and wife Neali, all of Woodland; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Bradley Doody, Emily Collins, Corey, Amber, Lane, Maren, Carter and Brooke Moir; many special nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Williams was predeceased by a sister, Katherine Devoe, and great-grandson Taylor Doody.
Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Tuesday September 9, 2014, from 12 noon until time of services which were held at 1 p.m. from the chapel of the funeral home. Interment was in the New Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Caribou.
