ISLAND FALLS – Edward Dwyer, 87, died September 2, 2014, in Patten. He was born May 21, 1927 in Island Falls, the son of Ross and Isadora (McFarland) Dwyer.
He was a member of the U.S. Army, serving during Korea. He worked for the town of Island Falls for several years, and at the Island Falls Hardware store. He was a Deacon at the Island Falls United Baptist Church for 55 years, a board member on the Board of Advisors for the Aroostook Area Agency on Aging and was a member of the Island Falls Senior Citizens.
He is survived by his siblings, Edith Dwyer of Island Falls, Mary Lawlor of Patten; Terry Dwyer of Island Falls; a brother-in-law, George Wagner of Quincy, MA; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents; wife, Loretta; siblings, Virginia Irish, Charles Dwyer and Erva Staples.
Friends called 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 4 at Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Friday at the Island Falls Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Greene officiating.
