HOULTON – Lyda H. Gardiner, 100 years, 10 months, and 3 days, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014 at a local nursing home. She was born November 4, 1913, in Bridgewater, the daughter of R.A. Fullerton and Vera (McCluskey) Fullerton.
Lyda was a graduate of Bridgewater Classical Academy in 1931 and from Bryant & Stratton College in Providence, R.I. in 1932. She was employed in the office of the Federal Land Bank in Presque Isle. In 1936, she married Charles Gardiner and they moved to Royal Oaks, MI that fall. They returned to Maine in October of 1940.
Lyda is survived by two daughters, Roberta Anderson and her husband, Willis, Donna Laurendeau and her husband, Regis; six grand-children; two great-grand-children; two special friends, Albert and Marie Williams. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Charles; her son, Ray; and a brother, David.
A memorial service will be held at the Dunn Funeral Home on Thursday at 12 noon with Rev. Carl DeMerchant officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
