LANSING, MI – Norma M. Merrill, 86, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014. Born August 30, 1927 to Joseph and Alma Sleeper in Caribou, Maine, Norma was a loving mother and grandmother, a devoted sister, wonderful aunt, and a friend to all who knew her.
Norma graduated from Caribou High School, Nasson College in Springvale, ME, and worked for Solman Law Firm for many years before moving from the area. She worked for several companies as a real estate broker and later retired from Berry Construction. She was a faithful member of Cristo Rey Church. Norma loved her church and loved cooking for her family.
Preceding her in death were her granddaughter, Carolyn Merrill; brother-in-law, Craig Adamson; and her parents.
Surviving are her daughters, Kathy (Al) Jaconetta of Florida, Natalie (Dennis) Louwers of Florida; sons, Paul (Julie) Merrill of Eaton Rapids, Jim Merrill of Lansing, Jack Merrill of Lansing; grandchildren, Carie Jaconetta, April Louwers, Josh Louwers, Matt (Rachel) Merrill, Andrea (Mike) Taliaferro, BJ Merrill, Joe Merrill, Anthony Merrill; 10 great-grandchildren; twin sister, Natalie Adamson; sisters, Enid (Bob) Corey, Dottie (Mike) Fitzgerald; brothers, Ike (Jeanne) Sleeper, Joe (Doris) Sleeper, Mitch (Flo) Sleeper; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Lansing with Fr. Fred Thelen as Celebrant.
