    PRATTSBURGH, NY – Russell  Howe, age 87, of Prattsburgh, NY passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014, at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath. Russell was born in Stockholm, Maine on October 2, 1926, the son of the late Irving Z. and Claudia (Tall) Howe.
    He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Russell worked as the plant manager for Mercury Aircraft in Hammondsport until his retirement in 1993. He and his late wife “Midge”, enjoyed dancing with the dance club. He was a past member of the Prattsburgh Protectives Fire Dept. and was very active and involved with the Prattsburgh United Methodist Church. He enjoyed vacation trips to his home town in Maine and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
    Russell is survived by his children, Rusty Howe and wife, Linda of Prattsburgh, Jackie Remmers and husband, Pat of Houston, TX, Rex Howe and wife, Pat of Joppa, MD, Tim Howe and wife, Pam of Westbrook, ME; grandchildren, Stacy Howe, Lori Shin, Crissy Remmers, Justin Howe, and Jessica Howe; and his great-grandchildren, Katherine Howe and Michael Shin. In addition to his parents, Russell was predeceased by his wife, Mildred “Midge” L. Howe on July 30, 2012; as well as his siblings, Katherine, Phyllis, Louise, Ethel, Gertrude, Ginny, Irvina, and John.
    Friends and family called from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 2 at the Bottoni-Wood Funeral Home, 4 Mechanic St., Prattsburgh, NY. His funeral service was held at the Prattsburgh United Methodist Church on Wednesday, September  3 at 2 p.m. Burial followed at Prattsburgh Rural Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Russell’s memory to the Prattsburgh United Methodist Church or the Prattsburgh Ambulance.
