Award-winning author to appear at The Cup Café

HOULTON — Cathie Pelletier, an acclaimed novelist, will appear at The Cup Café in Houlton on Thursday, Sept. 18 for a book reading and reception. Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m., followed by a reading of her new novel “In A Year After Henry” with a discussion.

In her book, “In A Year After Henry,” Pelletier presents a witty and refreshingly candid portrait of grief, intergenerational conflict, and the impact one person can have on those he loved, long after he has passed.
Pelletier was born and raised on the banks of the St. John River, at the end of the road in northern Maine.  She is the author of 11 other novels, including “The Funeral Makers” (NYTBR Notable Book), “The Weight of Winter” (winner of the New England Book Award), “Running the Bulls” (winner of the Paterson Prize for Fiction), and, most recently, “The One-Way Bridge” (May 2013).
After years of living in Nashville, Tenn., Toronto, Canada and Eastman, Quebec, she has returned to Allagash, Maine and the family homestead where she was born.
Her first children’s book, The Summer Experiment, was released in April.
