Even though there is a for sale sign on the lawn, Chickadee Realty is not closing.
“The reason the sign is out front is that we do not need the whole building,” said Beth Bates, owner/broker of Chickadee Realty. “We are just downsizing.”

Associate broker Dale Lynch added, “People have seen the for sale sign and the rumor is we are going to close out.”
Instead, Chickadee Realty will relocate Oct. 1 to its new home at the Red Moose, Suite B, 14 Main St., Patten.
However, Bates is retiring from Lakeview Appraisals, which she started in her home in 1991.
Bates and Lynch both have seen the ups and downs of real estate over the years. Chickadee Realty opened in 2006.
“At one time, we had a secretary, four agents and two appraisers,” said Bates. “That is when the market was moving. It was great.”
Lynch added, “The good old days.”
With a tighter economy, the real estate business is waning, but Bates and Lynch are not ready to give up the ship.
“It has been a very slow summer here,” said Bates. “All the markets are down. I think people are scared about the economy. But, I hope the hunters want to be house hunters.”
Chickadee Realty will continue to be a full service real estate agency.
Chickadee Realty serves both buyers and sellers by marketing residential and lakefront properties, undeveloped land and commercial properties in the region.
“We will still do listings and work with anyone who needs guidance on selling or buying,” Bates added.
During the winter, Lynch will be running the office, while Tana McNutt, who is also part of Chickadee Realty’s team, will be the designated broker throughout the winter months.
“We welcome walk-ins to our new office,” Bates said. “Come in and talk to us about listing and buying.”
To discuss real estate options, call either Bates or Lynch at 528-2000 or 595-0055 (cell) or via email at beth@chickadeerealty.com or dale@chickadeerealty.com. The office, located at 14 Main St., is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays by appointment.
