Calling all home cooks

SmallBusiness    The Caribou Area Chamber of Commerce was pleased to add another new member to our rolls. Vaughn Realty, Inc. is the latest new member and we are very proud to have them and look forward to serving them as a valuable member of our area’s business climate.

Vaughn Realty, Inc. has been in business from 1977 at which time the Hotel Caribou located at 43 Hatch Drive was purchased and developed into office spaces. The company added more rental property at Caribou Office Park located at 7 Hatch Drive in 1982. They offer rental to every type of business and rehab suited to the needs of the individual business.
Vaughn Realty, Inc. takes care of all common area maintenance, heat, water and have a dumpster on location. They also have an “on site” person to answer to any type of emergency or maintenance calls. If you are looking for a place to grow your business, give them a call at 498-3604 or e-mail them at janphil@mfx.net. Thank you for your membership!
So many of our members are celebrating special anniversaries this year. It is a real testament to how strong they are committed to our area and how well they have succeeded at meeting the needs of our local citizens. Cary Medical Center is no different as they celebrate 90 years! The big celebration day is Wednesday, Sept. 24.
I have a special request for you. If you have a marquis sign on your property, would you put up a simple congratulations to Cary for that date? They would most appreciate your doing so to help them celebrate the special occasion.
I am really getting excited for Caribou Heritage Day celebrating Alexander Cochran. I was thinking about the day while watching one of my favorite shows on Fox: MasterChef. On this show, supposedly home cooks compete to become the winner. I love the show and it brought me an idea.
We have lots of wonderful home cooks in the area. Per capita, I don’t think anyone can boast of more great cooks per number of residents! That being the case, why not having a cooking/recipe contest for the best use of milled buckwheat in a dessert, main dish, roll or whatever!
This will be a fundraiser for the Chamber and entries will be $10 to enter. But I guarantee the prizes will be worth the win, place or show! I will announce the prizes in the coming week.
Get those creative cooking ideas flowing and enter today! The entry form can be found on our website at cariboumaine.net under the Popular Forms menu item. The contest will be held in the Caribou Downtown Mall parking lot on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 12:30 pm.
    Have a great week everyone!
