Participating in a three-mile walk on Aug. 31 in celebration of last year’s 50-mile trek from Houlton to Limestone were, from left, Linda Torruellas of Limestone, Lillian Costello of Milo, Grier Ostermann of Topsham, R. Tyler Simmons of Turner, Allison Johnson of East Winthrop, Haley Tarenko of Bangor and Lawrence (Larry) Berz of Limestone. Participant Anas Beshir, not pictured, is from Gorham. On Aug. 31 last year, Berz and Costello walked the 50 miles with Dr. Prasanna of Presque Isle, Ostermann walked 40 miles of the adventure and Torruellas walked 15 miles. It took Berz, Costello and Prasanna about 18 hours to complete the walk, which was inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s call to action 50 years ago for renewed vigor and physical fitness of the nation.
