NEW SWEDEN – Vera C. Larson, 77, went to Heaven to be with her beloved husband, Eldon, unexpectedly September 15, 2014, at New Sweden. She was born in Presque Isle July 13, 1937, the daughter of the late Raymond and Anna (Barker) Smith.
She married Eldon Larson November 11, 1954, and they had over 50 happy years together until his death in 2005. Vera was a housekeeper for numerous Caribou families, a correspondent for the Aroostook Republican, a store clerk at Montgomery Ward, and for many years she served as the town clerk of New Sweden. She loved to spend time in her garden, playing bingo, listening to country music and playing the organ. Her happiest moments, though, were spent with her family, whether it was cooking for them, working on the farm, or decorating the house for all seasons. Vera will be remembered as a loving and generous person who was always there for those in need.
