Leavitt, Sr., 91, of East Hartford, beloved husband for over 65 years of the late Jean (Patchell) Leavitt, who predeceased him this past May, peacefully passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014. Born in Island Falls on June 14, 1923, he was the son of the late Frank and Alice Leavitt.
    He was a proud WWII U.S. Army veteran. Earle was a skilled carpenter and a member of Local #43, Hartford. He belonged to the VFW, East Hartford and the Elks Club in Hartford.
    A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Earle will be dearly missed by two sons, Earle J. Leavitt, Jr. and his wife, Helena, of Southington and Gary L. Leavitt and his wife, Loretta, of Vernon; a special granddaughter, Amy Leavitt and her husband, Victor, of Rocky Hill and one adored great-granddaughter, Liliana. In addition to his wife and parents, he was pre-deceased by two brothers, Ralph and Herbert Leavitt and his sister, Louise McKenzie.
    Funeral services were Thursday, September 25 at 11 a.m. at the D’esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial with Military Honors followed at Hillside Cemetery, (Section E), East Hartford. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday morning, prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Donations in Earle’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
